Service and Tenacity
Craig Moechnig’s role as a Mortgage Loan Officer for Anchor Bank Woodbury is not only to guide customers through the highly regulated mortgage process, but also to educate them along the way. With almost two decades of experience and leadership positions in the mortgage business, his favorite part of the job is taking complex mortgage terms and rules and simplifying them – building trust with his customers.
Craig recently spent four years in the U.S. Army, rising to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. As an officer he learned to be accountable for results and responsible for the actions of 60 people he supervised in Afghanistan and Iraq. Craig’s team members at Anchor know they can depend on his leadership and straightforward communication, keeping everyone on the same page to serve customers. Prior to his military service, Craig rose through the ranks of mortgage lending to become chief executive officer of a mortgage banking firm in Eagan.
Craig particularly enjoys working with soldiers and veterans. He has the tenacity and knowledge to handle complex transactions and get homebuyers through closing despite challenges that can range from not qualifying for a mortgage to being deployed overseas. He holds a number of awards, including the Bronze Star and the U.S. Army Outstanding Volunteer Medal. He wants customers to know that he’ll place their interests first.
When he’s not in the office, Craig likes to go sailing with his wife and three children. He frequently speaks to groups and schools about his military service and the service and sacrifices of other military veterans. He also volunteers for Employer Support of the National Guard and Reserve (ESGR), the VFW, the American Legion, and Sail for Leukemia. In his role with ESGR, he has presented many awards to companies and individuals for supporting military members while they’re deployed.
